2026 Annual Scholarship Guildelines

OAC/VAC is proud to announce its 2nd Annual Scholarship Program, created to support young volunteers and their siblings, or the children, and grandchildren of our dedicated volunteers as they pursue higher education. Please review the following eligibility criteria and application requirements carefully.

Who Is Eligible?

  • Be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident with a valid permanent resident card. (Note: International students are not eligible)
  • Be a resident of the State of California.
  • Be of Vietnamese heritage (at least one parent must be Vietnamese).
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be a high school Sophomore, Junior, Senior or already possess a high school diploma or GED and be applying to or currently enrolled in a University, Community College, or Vocational School as a full-time undergraduate.
  • Be a volunteer of OAC/VAC, or an immediate family member (child, grandchild, or sibling) of an OAC/VAC volunteer.
  • Be available to attend the OAC/VAC Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 8th, 2026, where scholarship awardees will be recognized. (Note: OAC/VAC is unable to cover travel, lodging, or related expenses for attendance)

How To Apply:

  • A completed application form (attached)
  • A copy of your most recent transcript (high school, college, or university). Unofficial transcripts are accepted.
  • One of the following: College/University/Vocational School acceptance letter, or Class schedule from the previous or upcoming semester/quarter.
  • An essay (minimum 650 words) answering the following:
  • 1. Describe a volunteer experience that changed the way you see your community. What did you learn about leadership, compassion, or responsibility, and how has that experience influenced your future goals?
  • 2. If you were given the opportunity to create one new community service project for OAC/VAC, what would it be? Explain the need it addresses, how you would organize it, and the impact you hope it would have on the community.

Timeline
  • Application Deadline: All application materials must be submitted by 5:00 PM on July 27, 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • Confirmation of Receipt: You will receive a confirmation email within 2 business days of submission.
  • Awardee Notification: Scholarship recipients will be selected and announced by the OAC Scholarship Committee on August 3, 2026, and contacted via phone or email by August 2, 2026.
  • Award Ceremony: Scholarships will be awarded and recipients recognized during the OAC/VAC Scholarship Award Ceremony on August 8th, 2026.
